what?! blogging 101?!

Posted on the April 14th, 2013 under article marketing, blogging by

blogging 101.. well, it is mostly about the blogging vocabulary.. basically for you to understand blogs, you need to know the terms blog, platform, domain, and web host.. *aiya karambaaaa! do i need to?* ehemmm.. anyways, once you have mastered these key elements of blogging, you can enter any conversation about blogging with confidence! after you know what exactly a blog is, you will be on your way to passing the final exam of blogging 101. (i never knew there are exams for blogging :-P)

“blog” is short for weblog, which simply means a series of online posts presented in reverse chronological order.. still don’t get it? how do i say this?.. your latest blogpost will be shown on your homepage whenever a visitor drops by your website.. that’s all! most blogs are text only (can be kinda boring), with some blog having graphics and all.. but there are also photo blogs and video blogs.. these are more interactive and “perhaps” gives a better experience to those who doesn’t like to read :-) the rest of blogging 101 has to do with the technical side of things.. *uh-oh.. that sounds difficult!* well, do not fret..

if you are setting up a blog, you will need a platform like blogger or wordpress, a web host like hostgator or serverfreak, and a domain.. a blogging platform is a computer software program that allows you to write posts and to update your blog.. your platform is also what you use to design the look of your blog, from colour scheme to font size.. the web host is sort of like the virtual file cabinet where your blog is stored.. your computer communicates with the host when you upload or edit a post.. the domain is the online address of your blog (your homepage name), and usually ends in ‘dot com’.. now that you know what a blog is, what a platform is, and what domains and hosts are, congratulate yourself! you have just passed the first phase of blogging 101!

let’s get started now, shall we?

how to easily be successful with blog commenting..

Posted on the March 12th, 2012 under blogging, internet marketing by

getting targeted visitors to your website or your blog depends on your actual understanding how to get more exposure – both through the search engines and through other means.. now, when we mention the search engines, we’re talking about ranking well within them.. not just by optimizing your own site but through gaining relevant backlinks. yea.. sure, you have all sorts of means for building backlinks but blog commenting is still one of the strongest methods available to you. of course, one of the problems that you are going to face when you take on blog commenting is choosing the right blogs and having your comments approved. so, i’m writing this article to teach you how to get this done and the steps you need to take.

Read Before Commenting!

it is VERY IMPORTANT that you read a big portion of the blog post that you want to comment on before you actually leave your comments. why? because this is to ensure that your comments do not feel like spam and is impressive enough to be guaranteed to get approved. you don’t have to actually study the post inside out to make your comment, but even getting a general overview of it will definitely help. you want the blog’s owner to have a good impression of you and you won’t get it if you don’t know what your comment is really about..

Use Your Real Picture!

when you are serious about blog commenting, it’s important to have your own Gravatar (click here to find out more about Gravatar) .. and it needs to be your own photo and not just a random image or graphic. you do this so that the bloggers who are the most particular about the readers they deal with will find you genuine and be more likely to approve your comments faster. you don’t want to appear like someone mysterious that’s hidden behind a mask. give the blogger a good reason to believe in you and not just think you’re spamming them.. remember, spamming is badddddddddddddd~~~

Use Short Links!

as you link to your website from blog posts, make sure you’re using a short URL and not the longer one with the extended string of numbers and letters. you do this, because, as most blog owners know, it is the spammers who use the long URLs to send traffic to affiliate landing pages.

So, what are you trying to achieve here?

your goal should be to make yourself seem as genuine as you can so that there won’t be any confusion about you. you should make raising the chances of having your comment approved a top priority.. as you work and focus on this one thing, it will really help you get the job done. you can learn a lot when you leave smart comments on other people’s blogs; not only do you learn how to correctly gain targeted exposure, you learn what other bloggers in your niche are doing and what they care about and your comments can act as a form of direct communication between the two of you. so,.. once you start applying these simple blog commenting tips, you’ll realize that many opportunities are waiting to be unraveled if you use this method in a smart way.

a great idea for a blogging web site.. is it enough?

Posted on the February 10th, 2012 under blogging by

because there are so many blogs and web sites about blogs on the internet, it can be tough to distinguish your blogging web site from all of the others. whether you are starting up a new web site aimed at bloggers or whether you are looking to make your existing blogging site more distinctive, the key to building and maintaining a site that will capture the interest and attention of the blogging community is finding your niche. if you can fill a unique need in a way that no other web site does, you’ll be able to build a lasting readership among web surfers. once you have discovered a niche, you will still have a lot to do, but finding your place in the blogosphere is the place to begin.

every great blogging web site starts with a great idea, and you can’t build a successful site that will last without one. there are many great sites aimed at today’s bloggers, and competition for the attention of this growing demographic is fierce. to make your blogging web site stand out from the pack, you will need to offer something that no other site is currently offering, or you will need to do the same thing that an already popular site does but in a more impressive or valuable way.

one way to discover an ideal model for your blogging web site is to look at the sites that have successfully captured a blogging audience already to determine if you can appropriate some of their strategies to help realize your vision. of course, you will also need to add a unique flair to your project in order to stand apart from your competition. many people agree that the web sites that do the best in today’s market are the sites that have the most personality. the fiercely individual surfers who are bloggers are a demographic that responds especially strongly to personality, so consider how you can give your site a unique and attractive feeling by lending your own voice and sensibility to your site’s design and content.

once you have a great idea for your site, have pinpointed a special niche that you are well equipped to fill, and have infused the site with personality, the next step is figuring out how to get the word out to bloggers. in the long run, a great idea just isn’t enough to propel your blogging web site to success. You will need to draft a smart and realistic marketing plan in order to draw readers to your site. Once you hook a blogger, your great content will keep them coming back, but it is vital to get that first glance or your site won’t have a chance to shine.

using a free blogging web site

Posted on the February 2nd, 2012 under blogging by

for first time bloggers, a free blogging web site is a great way to get started in the blogosphere. popular blogging web sites like Blogger and WordPress allow users to set up and host a blog without paying any fees at all. this encourages people to start blogging, because the fact that one of these sites can provide you with all of the tools that you need to get your blog up and running without spending any money. this also means that you have nothing to lose by starting a blog. the fact that it is so easy to find a way to blog for free, it has become one of the reasons why so many people who have never had any other kind of web presence before find themselves drawn to blogging.

by signing up with a free blogging web site, you may find it easier to get listed in search engines that you would if you were starting your own blog from scratch. for example, Google runs the free blog hosting site Blogspot and crawls its pages very often looking for updates, so if you have your site hosted by Blogspot, you are almost guaranteed to be listed on Google’s blog search engine. this easy  access to search engines can take some of the work out of promoting your blog, and can help you gain a following with a minimum of marketing effort.

starting your blog on a free blogging web site is a great way to build a following before you spend any money on your blog. if and when your blog becomes popular, and you are ready to take the next step and purchase your own domain, your readers will follow you to your new home. i started off with a few blogs using blogspot in the past years and finally i decided to move on to my own domain here. i may not have much readership from my previous blogs but it helps me to know what sort of readers that comes by and reads my blog.

if your blog attracts a large readership, you may want to consider moving your site. many people feel that being hosted by a free logging web site gives a blog a kind of amateur flavour. that is fine for a new member of the blogosphere, but is not appropriate for a high-profile blog. having your own domain can help you make your blog feel professional, and finding a company that will host your domain is not difficult or expensive. once your blog takes off, you will probably be able to sell enough advertising space to be able to afford to buy a domain and pay for a hosting package, and still have money left over. however, it does not make sense, in most cases, to invest in these glossy luxuries before you have a sizable readership.

writing and blogging..

Posted on the January 19th, 2012 under blogging by

this is a continuation of my previous post. if you missed out on that, do click here to read what it’s all about :-) now, to continue where i left off, here are some tips that could help you get through and make your blog one of the interesting blogs online..

1. Consider your audience

even if your blog is generally personal, still, it would be better to consider the minds of your readers. you have to think of something that would interest them.

after all, most of the reasons of people who write blogs are not at all confined to their own personal motives. most of them would love to be “heard” (or read) and would love to be known, in some way or another, even for just a minute. hence, it is very important to come with a write up that everybody can understand, not necessarily that these people can relate to it but they can understand it.

2. Pictures speaks a thousand words

to make your blogging worth the browsing effort of your readers, it would be extremely nice if you will put some pictures in it. it does not necessarily mean you have to place a picture of yourself. any photographs will do as long as it does not pose danger or insult to anyone who will be reading your blog.

3. Make constructive and beneficial blogs

even if you are free to write anything you wan to say to the world, still, it would be better to create some write-ups that would be beneficial to your readers.

after all, its information technology that you have there so better be inclined to provide information rather than sheer quirky entertainment.

4. Avoid making multifaceted and complicated blogs

in order to have an interesting blogs, try not to use some highly technical and highfalutin words. after all, it is not a science discourse or a debate that you are making, so better stick to simple facts and short blogs.

bear in mind that most people who use the internet usually do more scanning than scrutinizing each site word for word. therefore, it would be better to come with blogs that will not bore your readers just because you have these lengthy articles.

5. Make it interactive

as much as possible and if your capacity will allow it, make your blog interactive. you can do this by placing some video or audio clips in your blog.

you can even place an area for comments or for some feedbacks. in this way, you can get some impressions or reactions of other people. who knows, you might even gain some friends just by making them feel at home in your blog site.

indeed, blogs are not created just for the mere fun of it. it also has its own purpose in the world of the internet. therefore, for people who wish to harness their craft, as far as writing is concerned, blogs are the best way to do it.

as they say, blogging is the contemporary term of creative and commercial writing.
